THE ONLINE PORTFOLIO OF DANIEL SWEENEY : PLACEMENT

about placement

During my third year at University I took part in a one year a placement at Fast Web Media. This company is a Total Sports Online ASA Company and deals with a number of different areas to do with online technology. The areas the company deal with are wide spread, they do Web Design, Web Development, Online Services, Web Hosting and SEO and Online Marketing.

The company also deals with PR and TV production which you can see and find out about from there website.

Fast Web Media is an up and coming company in all aspects of work that the company deals with, it has expanded rapidly over recent years and will continue to do so over the next few years. The company deals with some major companies such as Carling, Itchy, and The Footballers Writers Association amongst a number of others.

It also runs the highly successful 4TheGame website, which has information on all teams from the English and Scottish leagues.

Throughout my time on the placement I worked on both the larger sites and smaller sites that Fast Web Media work on. I looked after all aspects of the Lets Stay UK Franchise, whether it be a minor change in the backend database or the production of a new franchise website.

Another major project that I worked on was to create the templates for the new Carling website. I also produced a number of pages and tasks within this site and is the site I worked on the most during his time at the company.

After the completion of my year placement I felt I had learnt many new skills, both academically and personally. In my opinion I believe my degree is worth much more with the industrial experience I gained and it helped me immensely when it came to the planning and development of my final year project at University. I would now strongly recommend to anyone who has the the option of industrial experience to take it as I believes it would increase their knowledge of both subject matter and personal skills.
